Sweet Potatoes in the Air Fryer
These air fryer sweet potato wedges are so easy and so delicious. We love them because we only have to use a little oil and they come out nice and crispy; without being greasy or high in calories.
We like to toss the wedges in duck fat because its a healthy oil and we like the flavor punch. Duck fat can be found at most super markets, but olive oil works just fine here.
We use a spice blend that we tinkered with until we got it to wear we really happy with it. It’s herby, smoky, and salty. If you want to go a quicker simpler route, just use salt and pepper. We won’t judge you too much.
The air fryer is so quick and easy. We cook the wedges at 350 for 15 minutes and then turn the heat up to 400 in the final minutes for extra crispy wedges. Super technical stuff here!

Frozen sweet potato fries in air fryer
A lot of folks wanna know if you can use frozen sweet potato fries or wedges in an air fryer. And the short answer is, yes.
While you’ll always get a better cook using fresh sweet potatoes or thawing your frozen sweet potatoes, I know a lot of people are under time constraints and just need a quick cook. For frozen fries cook at 400 instead of 350.
You’ll need to pull the basket out after a few minutes of cooking and drain any liquid. If you don’t you could end up with soggy fries, ultimately leading to you having no friends. Do not serve soggy fries!
And remember that you’ll get the best cook when you leave a little space between the fries or wedges. So break apart any frozen chunks if you can.
Air Fryer Sweet Potato Varieties
Sweet Potatoes in the air fryer are healthy, quick and easy. And there is a ton of ways to cook them. Here are a few more options for all you air frying sweet potato lovers.
Spicy Sweet Potato Chips: Thinly slice your sweet potatoes into rounds, toss with a little bit of oil and a blend of chili powder, cumin, and cayenne pepper.
Roasted Whole Sweet Potatoes: Cut a slit lengthwise down your potato and open it up. Toss in some butter, rosemary, and garlic.
Sweet Potato Tots: Grate the sweet potatoes and mix with a little bit of flour and a blend of cheddar cheese and chives. Form the mixture into small tot-shaped balls and cook in the air fryer.
As always, thanks for stopping by. Cheers!
Air Fryer Endorsement
I won’t lie, I fought the air fryer movement. I didn’t want another big ass kitchen appliance taking up space in my 700 square foot apartment. Then one year I was gifted one for Christmas.
That was the year I stopped exchanging gifts. But it was also the year I started cooking with the air fryer. And I must say, (in a very scroogey tone) they’re pretty great.
I had to make my cat an outdoor pet to find space for it, but I am formally endorsing the air fryer. These air fryer sweet potato wedges are a great representation of why the air fryer is so great.
Because you only need to add a little oil, the air fryer is much healthier than traditional deep frying. it won’t overheat your home on a warm day, it cooks everything in a flash, and is super easy to clean.
The main knock on it being, and I know whiskers agrees with me, is the size. It’s like having a fat Yoda live on your countertop.
